Today we’ll meet Chris Beatrice and see some of his fantasy artworks. Chris has a  Bachelor in Fine Arts from Massachusetts College of Art, and is currently living in Natick, Massachusetts. Chris’ work has graced the covers of classic books such as Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels, Daniel DeFoe’s Robinson Crusoe, and Oscar Wilde’s The Selfish Giant, in addition to games, packaging, magazines, posters, private commissions and several other books.

” Somewhere between socialism and something else, in the very begining of the upcoming long and cold winter in 1985 was born Miroslav with a marvellous for the time almost 5 kilograms weight.

The creation of Miro:

Till the age of 8-9 the primary observation from teachers was to accept Miro as infant prodigy, BUT some years elapsed and they found that they are and were terribly wrong. For the biggest regret mostly for Miroslav, he didn’t evolve at all from then… the facts tell that it is either because of PC games or the invading age of the naked women on the home screen…
I’ve been drawing since the age of 16-17. I was playing games for more than 10 hours a day when suddenly my biggest inspiration came from Warcraft 3. Samwise and his art team inspired me to start pushing the pencil very hard.After lots of long, painful nights of hard work and skills improvement I decided to step into digital art. I was hired as a concept and texture artist at mastheadstudios.net. I still work there on an ambitious projects and search for fresh ideas… and women. ”

Véronique Meignaud was born in France in 1984, and living in Montreal.  After two years of training at the French school of art « Emile Cohl », she started working for game studios, such as Electronic Arts, Etranges Libellules, Darkworks and others, but also Nike and Marc Eko, to name a few. She also did illustrations for Magic: The Gathering playing cards for Wizards of the Coast.

A fascination for both the organic and mineral worlds transpires in her art at many levels ; it’s a strong source of inspiration that she turns into a unique output. But I will let you decide that :)

Amazing Character Designs by Michael Kutsche

Today we have with us some awesome character concepts and designs from Michael Kutsche. Michael Kutsche is an award-winning German artist based in Los Angeles, California. He is a self taught artist who works both in traditional and digital media. His work is best described as an astoundingly lifelike depiction of parallel realities, populated by odd characters reminiscent of movies, comics but also Flemish Renaissance Painting.

His unique approach of imaginative character creation has led him to become a character designer on Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland”, “John Carter of Mars”, directed by Andrew Stanton and “Thor”, directed by Kenneth Branagh. Parallel to his career in the film industry he still keeps track of his own projects, including paintings for future exhibitions, book projects etc.

Today we have with us some of the amazing fantasy paintings of John Foster. Fantasy meets surrealistic elements in a very beautiful and unique painting style.

Jon Foster would have to be considered one of the top concept artists working today. He has a very strong following among the Sci-fi / Sci-fantasy community. He is a sought out speaker and lecturer on the subject and is a superstar illustrator who has won many of the top honors in the fantasy world, including two silver and three gold awards from Spectrum: The Best of Contemporary Fantastic Art. Jon also was awarded the David P. Usher/Greenwich Workshop Memorial Award in the Society of Illustrators annual 43, has been nominated twice for the Chesley Awards, and was winner of the 2008 Dark Scribe Quill Award for Best Cover.

Jon Foster’s works have appeared in publications such as National Geographic, Universal Orlando, Dark Horse Comics, DC Comics, Tor Books, Simon and Schuster, Harry S. Abrams Books, Boston Globe, Underwood Books, Knopf, Delacorte, Del Rey Books, Scholastic, Fox Atomic, Little Brown, Nightshade books, Subterranean Press. He currently teaches at the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design when he is not turning out a award winning illustrations.

The Amazing Fantasy Art of Catherine Nodet

Hi folks! In today’s inspiration corner we have some really amazing digital paintings by Catherine Nodet.

Catherine Nodet was born in France and has possessed a passion for drawing for as long as she can remember. At the age of 10, she left behind the world of black-and-white for the world of paint — a medium which will forever be a part of her.

At the same time, Nodet was intrigued by the beginnings of what would become today’s digital art, and she taught herself to use the very first graphics software in order to create her first digital paintings. Although a traditional painter, she likes working with current media (e.g. Photoshop), and uses it to fulfil commissions and book covers. She has studied Applied Arts as well as other art branches.

Although all subjects are likely to interest her, her world is primarily a fantasy world that mix fantastic, magic, myths, legends and tales, the History, a touch of gothic / steampunk and an aura of mystery and mysticism.

Most often one or several characters (preferably for portraits) in a context and a very special atmosphere for each illustration where emotions and naturals elements such as wind, water, fire, snow … also play a decisive role.
