The Value of Photography (Infographic)

The following is a survey carried out on the Value of Photography. With the abundance of photography now online from mobile phones/ digital cameras etc, the value of photography is somewhat hard to quantify. With this survey we simply want to establish a price range to help amateur and professional photographers value their photography, while at the same time not devaluing their work.

There is a big difference between what people say they would buy, and what they actually buy.
42% of the 130 respondents are photographers, and all of them are visiting art/photography web sites, so the survey provides no real insight.

Well Phil, as with any data analysis you can find parts you can use and insights that are not useful at all. And different people will see different things. As i see it, it’s a decent effort to find a golden section of pricing, that would be attractive to both consumers and providers. So i think the percentages they used are logical.

Still I don’t think any self respecting photographer should blindly follow *any* price suggestions before researching the market personally. Therefore, if you ask me, *every* survey/research not conducted by themselves shouldn’t be considered a real insight.

I agree on your points. The survey focuses on the enthusiast point of view, being closer to that of the provider.
It would be interesting to give the same survey to non-enthusiast consumers, as the comparison would be most enlightening.

          Indeed Phil!
