Patrick-Galibert→Les-enfants-de-la-route6

The heart-touching photojournalism photography of Patrick Galibert

Patrick Galibert is a professional photographer based in Toulouse France. His photography will definitely touch your heart, and give you glimpses of how people in other countries try to make their living. It’s always astonishing how many things we take for granted, how many pointless things makes us feel unhappy, and how much differently we could perceive the world if we had just been born in a different place.

Since today we are discussing photo journalism for the first time, let’s also see a short definition about it as well.

Photo journalism is a particular form of journalism (the collecting, editing, and presenting of news material for publication or broadcast) that creates images in order to tell a news story. It is now usually understood to refer only to still images, but in some cases the term also refers to video used in broadcast journalism.

Photojournalism is distinguished from other close branches of photography (i.e., documentary photography, social documentary photography, street photographyor celebrity photography) by complying with a rigid ethical framework which demands that the work is both honest and impartial whilst telling the story in strictly journalistic terms. Photojournalists create pictures that contribute to the news media.

I would love to hear your impressions on the selected works.

James-White→Commemorative-posters2

Contemporary Poster Design #3

Hello and welcome to our contemporary poster design series!

Did you know?

Chéret developed a new lithographic technique that suited better the needs of advertisers: he added a lot more colour which, in conjunction with innovative typography, rendered the poster much more expressive. Not surprisingly, Chéret is said to have introduced sex in advertising or, at least, to have exploited the feminine image as an advertising ploy. In contrast with those previously painted by Toulouse-Lautrec, Chéret’s laughing and provocative feminine figures meant a new conception of art as being of service to advertising.

Posters soon transformed the thoroughfares of Paris into the “art galleries of the street.” Their commercial success was such that some of the artists were in great demand and theatre stars personally selected their own favorite artist to do the poster for an upcoming performance. The popularity of poster art was such that in 1884 a major exhibition was held in Paris.

For today we have a stunning selection of 20 posters coming to us from Josip Kelava & James White! Let’s enjoy their works!!

Hope you enjoyed today’s selection of posters as much as i did finding them! See you next time!

Expressive Animal Portrait Photography: Squirrels

We have seen in a previous article several expressive animal portraits. But today on the spotlight we have only squirrels! And more precisely 14 stunning and very expressive squirrel portraits, i came across at Flickr.

Generally Wildlife photography is regarded as one of the more challenging forms of photography. As well as needing sound technical skills, such as being able to expose correctly, wildlife photographers generally need good field craft skills. For example, some animals are difficult to approach and thus a knowledge of the animal’s behavior is needed in order to be able to predict their actions. Photographing some species may require stalking skills or the use of a hide/blind for concealment.

While wildlife photographs can be taken using basic equipment, successful photography of some types of wildlife requires specialist equipment, such as macro lenses for insects, long focal length lenses for birds and underwater cameras for marine life. However, since the advent of digital cameras, greater adventure travel and automated cameras, a great wildlife photograph can also be the result of being in the right place at the right time.

Photographing squirrels requires a lot of patience. They are quite fast but luckily curious of humans so most often they will stop for a quick peek at your camera lenses while trying to photograph them!

The Amazing Fantasy Art of Catherine Nodet

Hi folks! In today’s inspiration corner we have some really amazing digital paintings by Catherine Nodet.

Catherine Nodet was born in France and has possessed a passion for drawing for as long as she can remember. At the age of 10, she left behind the world of black-and-white for the world of paint — a medium which will forever be a part of her.

Artwork copyrighted by Catherine Nodet (3)

At the same time, Nodet was intrigued by the beginnings of what would become today’s digital art, and she taught herself to use the very first graphics software in order to create her first digital paintings. Although a traditional painter, she likes working with current media (e.g. Photoshop), and uses it to fulfil commissions and book covers. She has studied Applied Arts as well as other art branches.

Although all subjects are likely to interest her, her world is primarily a fantasy world that mix fantastic, magic, myths, legends and tales, the History, a touch of gothic / steampunk and an aura of mystery and mysticism.

Most often one or several characters (preferably for portraits) in a context and a very special atmosphere for each illustration where emotions and naturals elements such as wind, water, fire, snow … also play a decisive role.

You can find more of Catherine’s amazing works at her personal website or her deviant art profile!
