Navid Baraty→Rain2

Stunning Urban and Street Photography

For today’s photography inspirations, we have prepared  a very cool selection with street and urban photography, and most of them are captured in rain adding even more to their atmosphere. Our featured photographers for today are by Danny Santos IIPavel BukhvalovNavid Baraty and Heiko Waechter!

Before we begin, let’s see a short description of what is street photography from Wikipedia.

Street photography is a type of documentary photography that features subjects in candid situations within public places such as streets, parks, beaches, malls, political conventions and other settings.

Street photography uses the techniques of straight photography in that it shows a pure vision of something, like holding up a mirror to society. Street photography often tends to be ironic and can be distanced from its subject matter, and often concentrates on a single human moment, caught at a decisive or poignant moment. On the other hand, much street photography takes the opposite approach and provides a very literal and extremely personal rendering of the subject matter, giving the audience a more visceral experience of walks of life they might only be passingly familiar with. In the 20th century, street photographers have provided an exemplary and detailed record of street culture in Europe and North America, and elsewhere to a somewhat lesser extent.

Let’s now enjoy today’s selections!

Jack-Long→Vessels-and-Blooms

The amazing splash photography of Jack Long

We have seen in an old article tips on how to capture high speed and splash liquid photography. Today we have some really awesome examples of creative splash photography by Jack Long.

“My personal work is with Splash / high speed fluid experimentation. All of my work is unique and unlike anything previously created. I have no interest in recreating what has already been done. While I may borrow from other genres for inspiration, I will not try to replicate. I don’t even like doing my own ideas more than once. I have a few selected techniques that I use that are self discovered. I am working to get the most out of these methods. The new and sometimes surprising results are what keep me going. I do not explain my techniques, do “how to’s” or tutorials.”

~Jack Long

So with no further ado, let’s enjoy Jack’s work!

Contemporary Poster Design #5

Hello and welcome to our contemporary poster design series!

Did you know?

The film industry quickly discovered that vibrantly coloured posters were an easy way to sell their pictures. Today, posters are produced for most major films, and the collecting of movie posters has become a major hobby. The record price for a poster was set on November 15, 2005 when US$690,000 was paid for a poster of Fritz Lang’s 1927 film Metropolis from the Reel Poster Gallery in London.

Other early horror and science fiction posters are known to bring tremendous prices as well, with an example from The Mummy realizing $452,000 in a 1997 Sotheby’s auction, and posters from both The Black Cat and Bride of Frankenstein selling for $334,600 in various Heritage Auctions. The 1931 Frankenstein 6-sheet poster, of which only 1 copy is known to exist, is considered to be the most valuable film poster in the world.

Let’s get back to today and have a look at today’s selection of  posters. Coming to us from Simon C Page, Stefano Joker Lionetti and Thomas Kuriatko! Let’s enjoy their works!!

Hope you enjoyed today’s selection of posters as much as i did finding them! See you next time!
