Essential Design Tips for Your Business Blog

More and more businesses are creating business blogs. They’re using these platforms to build an audience, promote their talents, showcase their expertise, and simply provide valuable information.
What some businesses don’t realize is that while the content they generate is by far the most important aspect of a blog, the design is also important. If your company has a blog and you’re not using the right design, you could end up sending some of your readers away. So how do you design your blog effectively? You use these tips.
Keep it simple.
While you may want to put that multicolored or busy background on your blog, it’s not a good idea. You want the content of your blog to be the focus, and if your background is too colorful or too busy, it will take away from your content. Plus, you may also be making it harder for your audience to read, and if they can’t read your content, they’re not going to stay.
Be contrasting.
While you want to keep it simple, you also want to make sure that there is a contrast between the background and your font. If your background color is blue and your font is blue, it will make it hard to read. This is why you should stick with a lighter colored background and a darker font.
Some people opt to do a darker background color and a lighter font, but you’ll want to see how this looks on screen before implementing it. Sometimes, a very light font can be hard to read, so it’s always a good idea to test it out if that’s the route you want to take.
Have simple navigation.
Some companies love to be creative, and they end up using this creativity on their navigation. Your readers, though, will not be impressed, especially if the navigation is hard to find or if the descriptions don’t tell them exactly what they’ll be getting if they click on it. Instead, you want to make your navigation easy for your readers to understand and easy for them to get from place to place.
Keep your font simple.
Along with your colors, you’ll also want to make sure that you’re using a very simple typography. Cursive-like fonts or those that have design elements are going to make it difficult for your audience to read. Instead, opt for something simple and common. Though you may think it’s boring, your readers will appreciate being able to see and read your font.
Add sharing features.
Blogs and social media go hand in hand, and you will want your audience to easily be able to share information they find interesting on your blog. This is why you’ll want to make sure that your blog contains share buttons that will link your content directly to Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and the rest.
Check the size of your images.
If you’re going to be posting images to your blog, you want to make sure that the size is complementary to your blog. If your pictures are too small, it will be hard for your audience to see what they are. If they’re too big, they could take away from the aesthetics of your blog and make everything look out of place.
